Table tennis still clings to the skin of Sébastien Jover, who wore the colors of Elan Nevers for five years.

No problem finding Sébastien Jover. Always in a gym or in a specific room for table tennis. And there, more precisely in the Paris suburbs of Saint-Denis, the former player of Élan Nevers rages between 1999 and 2004. A prosperous period (three French titles in 2002, 2003 and 2004) and familiarity with European summits allowed the ducal club to reach the highest national level.

After Nevers he left his suitcases in Yport, then Chartres. “I had good years there too. Especially in 2006 I had my best season with three French titles in individual, men’s doubles and mixed doubles”, explains Sébastien Jover.

Player and now manager at Saint-Denis

After these two periods, he made his way to Saint-Denis. “I played six years from 2010 to 2016 and then I took over the team. Today we’re in Pro A. But this year it’s a bit more complicated. Our season is not good. We are second to last. We won’t have to quit and fight until the end. Only the last one falls, but hey. »

Had he planned this in his career plan? “Let’s say this is a logical continuation. The management team trusted me,” he continues. “That leaves a lot of freedom. Especially when it comes to recruiting. What you should know is that we also have a women’s team in Pro A especially with Prithika Pavade, who played at the Tokyo Olympics at the age of 16 last year. »

As a lover of the Bordeaux region, Sébastien Jover tried selling wine and that’s not all… “I am also a horse enthusiast. I have some. It’s also good to have hobbies like this. »

In the words of his friends, Seb cannot imagine his life without a racket and a small white ball. “Table tennis fills my life. Unfortunately my children are not playing. But I don’t blame them. »
