MLB: Summary of the September 2 games played in American stadiums

Where will the New York Yankees’ mishaps end?

The Bronx Bombers suffered a 9-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, just five games behind the Yankees and first place in the Eastern United States.

Five different Yankees players secured the ball, but none crossed the plate. New York has been cleared for the sixth time in the past 30 days.

Tampa Bay led the score in the 4th inning on the running David Peralta single. Then, in the 7th inning, Christian Bethancourt added two more runs to the board thanks to his 9th home run of his season.

Despite being three laps behind, the Yankees were still in contention until the team collapsed at the end of the eighth round. New York allowed the Rays six runs, two of which included a walk, on a humiliating loss track.

Domingo German had managed to limit damage by only allowing six hits and three runs on the six and three-thirds hits on the Yankees mound. However, the story was quite different for Greg Weissert and Anthony Banda, who each allowed three runs in relief.

In addition to entering the Yankees’ five games and top of the division, the Rays stay two games ahead of the Blue Jays, who occupy the last team spot.

Meanwhile, Yankees first goalie Anthony Rizzo will miss the entire series against the Rays after receiving an epidural for his back pain.

The injection took place in California on Thursday after a series against the Angels. Rizzo will be in rehab in New York this weekend. He may resume his baseball activities on Monday.

Also right-back Jameson Taillon has been shooting for two days. He was hit with a cannon in his right forearm on Tuesday, but is feeling fine. It hopes to return to rotation early next week.

Taillon is 12-4 with 3.97 GAA this season.
