Rafael Nadal

“Lose to Rafael Nadal angered Novak Djokovic”

20-time grand champion Novak Djokovic has become a player who has been beaten in the most important tennis scene of the last four years. The Serbian won three major titles in 2021 and narrowly missed a Grand Slam schedule after losing the US Open final to Daniil Medvedev.

Novak has yet to compete for the Grand Slam in 2022. He missed the Australian Open due to the visa controversy and lost the Roland Garros quarterfinals to his biggest rival, Rafael Nadal.

Greg Rusedski thinks Novak is angry that he hasn’t won a Major this year and wants to change that at Wimbledon. With the draw, Djokovic and Nadal will meet in the quarterfinals in Paris, with Rafa winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 in four hours and 12 minutes.

The Spaniard was more aggressive in the night session on the Philippe-Chatrier court, firing almost 60 winners and making an incredible comeback in the fourth set.

Novak Djokovic has yet to win a major tournament in 2022.

Novak took four out of 12 chances, played well in the second and fourth sets, but missed the chance to force the decisive set.

The Spaniard took seven timeouts to check the scoreboard and advance to the semi-finals. Rafa got off to an excellent start and took a 6-2, 3-0 lead. Novak made the call for the remainder of the second set, winning six of their last seven games 6-4, giving a big boost to the third set.

Nadal returned to his best in the third set before Djokovic took a 5-2 lead in the fourth set. The Serb squandered two sets of points on his serve in the ninth game, allowing the Spaniard to sign the deal in the tiebreak.

Novak is the biggest favorite at the next Wimbledon and is pursuing his seventh and fourth consecutive All England Club titles. “There is a big difference between a potential winner and a real winner.

Getting to the finals is one thing, but it takes a crazy mindset to go all the way, especially against the best players of the last 15 years. Djokovic is angry that he didn’t win the Major this year.

Also the way he was defeated by Rafa at Roland Garros will hurt him. Rafa is trying to get the Grand Slam off the calendar. He wouldn’t have come if his foot wasn’t 100%.

Berrettini was the best player on the turf of the season and should be among the favourites. These three players are my choice for the championship ahead of Hubert Hurkacz,” said Greg Rusedski.
