GOLF: Château d’Avoise golf course seen in 1991, 1992 and 2022

Creusot-Infos invites you to explore the Avoise golf course, which was started in 1991, when it opened in 1992 and 30 years later. Things have changed a lot!

The Avoise golf course, which has just celebrated its 30th anniversary, gave Creusot-Infos the opportunity to browse its archives. We were able to find photographs of them during the construction of the track, especially in 1991 and after it was opened in 1992. Up-to-date photos of the track were also taken to give an idea of the changes. The vegetation has grown well for 30 years, so much so that it was sometimes difficult to know which hole corresponded to old photos. Explore below photos embellished with a comment to better describe it.

Build :

Before its lawn became a lush trail, it was necessary to develop the land, which was then just a mound of earth taking shape.
Later, we also see the teams laying the pipes that will allow irrigation on the ground.

Hole 4:

It’s hard to imagine the world giving way to very green grass in August 1992! Between the piles, the green of the future takes shape in the middle of the first photo. Then before the summer, the flag will be planted in the hole that has disappeared by that time.
You can also see the houses surrounding the pit. Today, they have more recently proliferated at the bottom and right of the hole, but vegetation makes them less visible.

hole 5:

We are at an advanced stage before the opening, but the grass growth is not over yet. The view shows hole 5 in the foreground and hole 6 in the background, but clearly visible, with the old Henri Paul coke plant at the bottom – we’ll see later.
Today we recognize the channel at the head of the hole, but all the vegetation is well grown. It clearly limits the hole from its 5 neighbors, making the hole more difficult for golfers. Deflecting to the left will involve refocusing your ball, where you can probably play full smash in the opening.
Finally, the water point visible on the left is completely covered by a tree.

Hole 6:

We observe a phase where the ground is very muddy. We are behind the coke factory mentioned above.
The hole later seen from the finish shows the mud being replaced by grass. Unlike the previous hole, the vegetation on the left was already there.
Today, not much has changed on the left, except for a hot floor.

In the last two photos we first see the water point on the shore opposite the playground, then from the game bank in 2022. Indeed, the first view is not repeatable because the vegetation has become dense on this side. bank.

Hole 8:

We moved from a green whose shape we only imagined with stakes, to a very green and well-defined area a few months later. The shot gives a view of hole 11, which is still visible today. The current view, which is not here, does not bring major changes. For example, the bridge on the right is still there and allows passage from hole 17 to 18.

hole 15:

The coke plant was clearly visible but surrounded by earth and waiting for vegetation to grow. We know it well today, it has changed slightly over time and has regained its vegetation rights.

“Mystery” hole:

This is probably one of the hardest shots to define. The clues that put the flea in the ear are: the pole, the water point, and the bottom three trees, slightly to the left.
In the picture we can see two greens, whereas today we would only see the first in the same place and the pylon would have disappeared. Therefore, posting today’s photo would not help identify it.

This is hole 7, bottom at hole 17. The vegetation is well grown and perfectly delimits the two holes. It’s so high that in the same place (left of 7), you can’t even see the body of water anymore. Three trees still limit the green of 17 in 2022.

driving range:

First on the ground and without shelter, the driving range was painted green for both ground and sheltered hitting positions. The stakes led to a beautiful green.
The only thing that hasn’t changed is the Kyriad building (formerly Novotel) and the power line.

Restaurant / clubhouse:
Here it is already planted, but remains mostly surrounded by earth. A terrace has been built on one side and can host meals and organizations with its large surface.
On the other hand, a training ground was born.
